Managing saved geographies overview

The Saved Geographies section of the Manage Data page lets you list and manage all of your saved geographies and list any geographies that have been shared with you by other users within your company.

Geographies are organised into folders to enable you to manage them effectively. Click on the image below to view the window.

The My Saved Geographies folder contains all the catchments that you have created yourself, organised into sub folders. The My Personal Geographies sub folder is the default folder and as such cannot be renamed or deleted. If you haven't yet created any new folders this will be the only sub folder contained within My Saved Geographies.

Using sub folders to organise and store your geographies is recommended as it has a number of benefits:

  • When selecting a geography to use in a report or show on a map you will find it easier to locate the one you require.
  • When selecting multiple geographies to use in a report or show on a map you can take advantage of the Select all feature.
  • You can share sub folders of geographies with other users within your company ensuring consistency and removing duplication of effort.
  • You can easily identify and delete redundant geographies.

The Geographies Shared With Me folder contains catchments created by another user within your company that they have chosen to share with you. You can list these, but you can't perform any management tasks on them as you are not the owner of these geographies.

Create new folder

New sub folders can be created within the My Saved Geographies folder. It is not possible to create sub folders within the Geographies Shared With Me folder.

Rename folder

Any sub folders within the My Saved Geographies folder, except for the default folder My Personal Geographies, can be renamed. It is not possible to rename folders within the Geographies Shared With Me folder.

Delete folder

Any sub folders within the My Saved Geographies folder, except for the default folder My Personal Geographies, can be deleted. It is not possible to delete folders within the Geographies Shared With Me folder.

Share folder

Any sub folders within the My Saved Geographies folder, except for the default folder My Personal Geographies, can be shared with other users within your company. Sub folders shared with other users may be unshared or new groups added to the share.

List saved geographies

 All geographies stored within a sub folder can be listed.

Move saved geography

Any geography stored within one of the My Saved Geographies sub folders can be moved to any of the other My Saved Geographies sub folders.

Delete saved geography

Any geography stored within one of the My Saved Geographies sub folders can be deleted.
