Description

Saved Geographies

All catchments which you create and save are displayed in a sub folder of your choice under My Saved Geographies. You can create a catchment:

  • using a report wizard;
  • using Create Catchments - Status > Create Catchment;
  • any of the methods on the Mapping page > Catchments > Create Catchment;
  • importing a brick geography using Imported Data Files > Import new file; and
  • importing a shapefile using Imported Shape File > Import new shape file.

The Saved Geographies section lets you manage all of the saved geographies you have created. You can create new sub folders in which to store your geographies, move geographies between sub folders and delete geographies that you no longer require.

It is also possible to share geographies with other users within your company. Geographies that have been shared with you by any other colleagues are listed in the sub folders under Geographies Shared With Me, but you cannot move or delete them.

For further details, see Managing saved geographies overview.

Create Catchments - Status

The Create Catchments - Status section lets you create a single travel time or distance catchment without using a report wizard. You can also create multiple travel time or distance catchments by using the postcodes or DPIDs, or lat/long coordinates within a file that you have previously imported.

For further details, see Managing created catchments.

Saved Custom Variables

All custom variables which you create and save are displayed in a sub folder of your choice under My Saved Variables.

The Saved Custom Variables section lets you manage all of the saved custom variables you have created. You can create new sub folders in which to store your custom variables, move custom variables between sub folders and delete custom variables that you no longer require.

It is also possible to share custom variables with other users within your company. Custom variables that have been shared with you by any other colleagues are listed in the sub folders under Variables Shared With Me, but you cannot move or delete them.

For further details, see Managing saved custom variables overview

Custom Variables

Custom Variables enable you to fine tune Location Analyst reports so that they suit your specific requirements.

When creating a report, if you select a number of variables within a group the generated report displays the results for each variable separately. However, if you need to add together the totals for two or more variables (within the same group) you can accomplish this by combining the variables into a single Custom Variable.

For example, you can create a Custom Variable combining Mosaic Groups A, B, G and H at Household estimate level. When you create a report using this Custom Variable the counts of households for the four Groups are added together.

The Custom Variables section lets you create new custom variables; view a recent and complete list of your custom variables, and to delete any that you no longer need.

For further details, see Managing custom variables

Imported Data Files

You can import a data file to plot locations on the map, for example your business locations or those of your customers. You can then create a report based on these locations.

The Imported Data Files section lets you import data files and to list and delete data files that you have already imported.

For further details, see Managing imported data files.

Imported Shape Files

You can import a Zip file containing one or more shapefiles which have already created using a third party mapping tool. The shapefiles define areas or catchments, typically of your business locations, distribution and sales locations. These catchments can then be added to the map just like any other type of catchment.

The Imported Shape Files section lets you import shapefiles; and to list and delete shapefiles that you have already imported.

For further details, see Managing imported shapefiles.

Custom Logo

The Custom Logo section lets you import a single custom logo to be added to your report header. The recommended image size for the best quality is 270 x 200 pixels. To change the image, load a new one, this will replace the existing image.

The logo file format must be one of: .jpg .jpeg .gif .png or .bmp.
