Go to location

Lets you go to an address on the map using its place name, postcode or postal address. If you use a postal address, you should separate the individual address elements with a comma, and always try to enter the town or city.

You can also find a location by panning and zooming using your mouse.

Export

This operates in one of two ways: if you have a subscription to export catchments as shape or point files, a drop-down menu is displayed showing:

  • Current map image – lets you export and download the current view of your map in PNG format.
  • Shape file or points in a catchment – lets you export one or more selected catchments as a shapefile or a point file.

If you do have a subscription to export catchments as a shapefile or point file, then the drop-down menu is not displayed. You can click on the Export option to export and download the current view of your map in PNG format.

See Exporting from the map for more details.

Basemap

Lets you alter the background of the map. The following options are available from a drop-down menu:

  • Road View
  • Satellite View
  • Hybrid View – a combination of road and satellite backgrounds.

Add data

Lets you add data that you would like to visualise on a map. See Adding data for more details.

Catchments

Displays a drop-down menu showing three options:

  • Draw Catchment – lets you draw a catchment area directly onto the map using a series of straight lines to create a closed polygon. See Drawing a catchment for more details.
  • Combine Bricks – lets you build a catchment by selecting standard geographical bricks (e.g. postal sectors) and combining these to form a single catchment. See Combining bricks to create a catchment for more details.

  • Create Catchment – lets you create a single travel time or distance ring catchment; or multiple travel time or distance ring catchments (up to 200). For a single travel time or distance ring catchment, you can search for the point by entering a postcode or DPID, place name, postal address, or lat/long coordinates. For multiple travel time or distance ring catchments, you must use a previously imported file containing the points. See Creating catchments for more details. You can also perform this operation on the Manage Data page.
