Managing saved custom variables overview
The Saved Custom Variables section on the Manage Data page lets you list and manage all of your saved custom variables and list any saved custom variables that have been shared with you by other users within your company.
Saved custom variables are organised into folders to enable you to manage them effectively. Click on the image below to view the window.
The My Saved Variables folder contains all the custom variables that you have created yourself, organised into sub folders. The My Personal Variables sub folder is the default folder and as such cannot be renamed or deleted. If you haven't yet created any new folders this will be the only sub folder contained within My Saved Variables.
Using sub folders to organise and store your custom variables is recommended as it has a number of benefits:
- When selecting a custom variable to use in a report or show on the map you will find it easier to locate the one you require.
- When selecting multiple custom variables to use in a report or to show on the map you can take advantage of the Select all feature.
- You can share sub folders of custom variables with other users within your company ensuring consistency and removing duplication of effort.
- You can easily identify and delete redundant custom variables.
The Variables Shared With Me folder contains saved custom variables created by another user within your company that they have chosen to share with you. You can list these, but you can't perform any management tasks on them as you are not the owner of these custom variables.
The following tasks may be carried out within the Saved Custom Variables section:
